RSI Upstand and 'Aqua' Access Covers

RSI Upstand Access Covers Surespan RSI aluminium single or double leaf upstand access covers are rated at 2.5 or 5kN/m ² loading. The patent marine alloy frame incorporates a single or double unbroken EPDM seal, to help prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture offering water and near airtight seal. Vented, insulated and airtight options are available.

The covers come complete with grade 316 stainless steel gas spring assisted lids, which are locked in the open position with safety hold open stays to prevent against accidental closure. A stainless steel slam action cab lock is fitted as standard to lock the lids, these locks are easily opened from the inside and key operated from the outside. Other locking options are available.

Increased Upstands


Surespan can increase or decrease the size of the upstand to accomodate your requirements. Image (right) shows an example of increased upstand of 200mm.

Suregrip - Non Slip


Surespan RSI floor access covers can now be offered in the 'Suregrip' non-slip range. Suregrip is a non-slip aggregate coating which is bonded to the lid of the access cover. The covers can be manufactured using calcined bauxite, a special surfacing material which has been independantly tested and proven to provide high friction contact. It has been specially developed to provide an aesthetically pleasing, high durable surface. Available in any size and can be custom made to suit individual requirements. Additional benefits include its weather, fuel and chemical resistance, which allows it so withstand extreme temperatures. Contact Surespan Sales or see Suregrip page for further details.

'Aqua' Reservoir Covers

Surespans 'Aqua' range of reservoir covers are manufactured in grade 316 stainless steel and incorporate a unique stainless steel micro mesh venting system. This allows stored liquids to breathe and help prevent contamination from outside.

The patent marine alloy frame with unique hinges incorporates an unbroken EPDM seal to help prevent the ingress of rainwater, animals and insects.

	TL - Tee Lock Standard method of opening lid from above. Brass plug protects internal cab lock keyway.			SL - Slam Lock Grade 316 stainless steel slam lock standard on all gas spring operated covers.
	HS - Hold Open Stay All gas spring operated Surespan access covers are provided with hold open stays. Designed to lock into position when the lid is fully open, the hold open stay guards against accidental closure.			AV - Air Vents Grade 316 Stainless Steel micromesh filters for air vent.
	LB - Locking Box Surespan integral locking boxes are a regular feature. Specify a locking box where additional security is required.			EI - Electrical Interlock (Micro switch) Can be provided where there is a reqiurement for remote alarm indication or automatic light switching.
	VW - Viewing Window Sureview® glass specification: Sandwich of 10mm outer toughened and heat soaked float with 2mm clear inter layer and 10mm laminated inner. Polished edges all round.			RH - Retractable Hand Hold The optional retractable hand hold improves the safety and convenience of ladder access.
	FR - Fire Rated Surespan access covers can be rated for 3 hours fire resistance for integrity to BS476: parts 21 and 22: 1987.			SI - Sound Insulation Surespan covers can be provided with excellent sound reduction of up to 45db Rw, measured in accordance with ISO 140-3: 1995 and rated in accordance with ISO 717-1: 1997.
	PC - Powder Coated All Surespan access covers are available polyester powder coated to any standard RAL colour.			BioCote Finish Surespan access covers are now available with a BioCote finish. BioCote is a specially formulated powder coating, with all attributes of conventional powders plus the ability to inhibit the growth of fungi and bacteria that contact the surface. www.biocote.com
