This listing is for our premium roof hatch. For our standard roof hatch see SRHP/TB
Surespan SRH/S20 (previously SRH/TB30) superior insulated roof hatches are manufactured in aluminium. Featuring thermally broken sections and an insulation which offers an outstanding U-value of 0.20 W/m²K.
The gas spring assisted opening lid is supported by heavy-duty aluminium hinges and features an integral 'wrap over' edge, incorporating double unbroken EPDM seals. The upstand has a purpose made flashing to accept the roof felt to make it weatherproof.
These roof hatches can be used in a variety of applications from Cold store storerooms to particularly harsh conditions. While the stainless steel option can further enhance the overall life span in high humidity environments with it's corrosion resistant properties.
The thermally broken sections coupled with the superior insulation ensure condensation is not a problem.

Our roof hatches are sold with a thermal break to eliminate issues that arise from thermal bridges (where two conductive materials meet allowing passage of heat).
Surespan has incorporated a thermal break in its roof hatches as standard. The role of this thermal break is twofold – it maintains its structural integrity by holding two metal profiles together and that it is a poor heat conductor, therefore disrupting the flow of energy moving from inside to outside, and vice versa.
All Surespan electrically operated roof hatches are available using solar technology, offering clients an environmentally friendly alternative.
A 12V solar panel is fitted either onto or nearby the roof hatch, harnessing solar energy to charge it's batteries and allowing the hatch to automatically open and close using a completely wireless system. This can be operated by either a wireless switch or remote control. It's batteries are fitted with a conditioned monitoring feature which sounds an alarm if they are running low or indicate a fault.
Additional options including being linked up to the building's Fire Alarm System (FAS) or Building Management System (BMS) are available. Multiple roof hatches can be operated by one solar panel.
This technology can also be applied to Surespan's SRHG glazed roof hatches.

SRH Roof Hatches can be manufactured with an extended skirt liner. The extended skirt liner can be used on any type of roof and can be provided as a completely assembled unit. This unit comprises of an SRH roof hatch, extended skirt liner, wall mounted rung, vertical fixed ladder and a ZIP retractable ladder.
For metal deck roof applications the extended skirt liner gives an attractive look to unsightly metal edging. In general circumstances it gives a lining to the inside of the aperture.
The JAKDOR ceiling access door is to be fitted once the unit has been fully installed.
The extended skirt liner can be manufactured to your exact requirements. No shape or size has its restrictions.
Metal Deck Roof Applications
Polished grade 316 stainless steel submarine type hatch as supplied to the Planetarium in Bristol and Burj Khalifa, Dubai
Manual gas spring assisted or electrical/hydraulic operation SRH combined with hinged side door, individually made to your exact specification or design criteria, offered with loading, fire rating and security to meet your requirements.
AND SIZE IS NO LIMIT (See Case Study "Circle Hospital Bath" for further details)
SRH Roof Hatches can be manufactured to enable the lid to open separately to the safety grid. In this instance when exiting the roof hatch and closing the safety grid, there needs to be a means of manually closing the lid.
The handle and cord is connected to the lid of the hatch and easily fits between the safety grid to enable the lid to be closed with ease.
Surespan hatches can be fitted with curb liners to ease site installation.
Surespan hatches can be fitted with expanded mesh around the curb liner to aid adhesion for asphalt.
All Surespan hatches can be provided with a rain run-off skirt to fit existing upstand (on site, by others).
Safety grill/ladder extension provided for safety and convenience, acting as a barrier or ladder extension when upright and a security grill when folded down.
Handrails can be fitted to assist entry and exit.
The optional retractable hand hold improves the safety and convenience of ladder access.
Ventilated access hatch with louvered panels on four sides.
Twin colour access hatches are becoming a very popular option.
Surespan access hatches are supplied with a 200mm upstand as standard. However, we can produce any height or raked upstand to suit your requirement.
Surespan hatches are designed to offer a high level of thermal insulation against heat loss and condensation. U-Value of 0.43W/m²K is available.
All Surespan access covers are available polyester powder coated to any standard RAL colour.
Surespan access covers can be rated for 90 minutes fire resistance for integrity to BS476: part 22: 1987.
Surespan hatches can be designed to offer excellent sound reduction of 45db Rw, measured in accordance with ISO 140-3: 1995 and rated in accordance with ISO 717-1: 1997.
Surespan access covers are now available with a BioCote finish. BioCote is a specially formulated powder coating, with all attributes of conventional powders plus the ability to inhibit the growth of fungi and bacteria that contact the surface. www.biocote.com
